About Maker:

In the early 1930's Wilf Carradice first made a saddlebag for himself after being frustrated that there were no suitable ones available. Friends soon asked him to make more. By the end of the 30's Carradice of Nelson was born and were making tents, rucksacks, sleeping bags and jackets too. Throughout the 40's and 50's their bags were the choice of every hard working cycle tourist and clubman. Wilf retired in the 70's and passed the company to Neville Chadwick, a keen cyclist, who continued to produce bags to the same exacting standards. Demand again began to outstrip the production facilities and two moves to larger premises followed. David took over from his father in 1994 and the business flourished under his enthusiastic management. Today, over 80 years on, the core range of 100% waterproof cotton duck pannier and saddlebags remains the heart of the company with each bag still proudly made by hand in their factory in Nelson, Lancashire.
